"art moves you in some way.It fits and feels right, or it doesn't fit in a way that feels deliciously wrong. You can talk all you want about brushstrokes or shades of green and blue but non of those are the things that move you. It's something else you might call spiritual".
What is "modern art"? how do you define something to be modern? does modern mean abstract? is "modern" a state of mind you can move in and out of ?. Abstraction in itself is nothing. "The Light at St.Ives" by Anne Kelly is an inspiring book. Here is a small reply. "The Light at Rivendell".

Early summer in the Peak District. Everything is fresh the first swallows have arrived from Africa bringing greetings from Morocco. New foliage in the hedgerow and woodlands and the mornings are light and airy. At night the full moon bathes our bedroom in a magical silver glow and tawny owls call to each other in the distance. Even Roxanne enjoys the late afternoon sun.
Today I booked my flights for Finland. Time to finalise my works in good time for despatch. I have a week or so before we take a holiday in St. Ives so its time to add all the finishing touches and wrap the babies in cotton wool.

"The Blue Lady 1" from the "Voices of Marrakech" series has been sold and is now living in a collection near Derby. I wondered how it would feel to let her go . The people who now own her were so happy with her there was no reluctance to part with her . I know she will be loved.
Rather excitingly the "private viewings" last Sunday were really fun. It was a sunny day and our guests were lovely . So lovely, in fact , that they relieved me of 5 pieces of work. What a great encouragement.
On the down side two of the canvases were earmarked for Finland in July so its back to work !!! .
I'm glad to say the paintings have gone to lovely people who collect and appreciate art!
